Salt cave is made of 25 tones of salt, domestic and imported, obtained through the
pressure process, covered by a mass of salt encrusted with salt nuggets. The suitable
humidity, temperature and air circulation is ensured by air conditioning. In these
conditions such valuable elements as iodine, magnesium, potassium, selenium and
bromide are liberated. The quality of the ambience is the basic criterion for the
evaluation of the salt cave's usefulness for therapy. As salt naturally decays in
time, its concentration in the air decreases. To fight the decay we have developed
an original device called "the spare module". Thanks to our method of replacing
the salt mixture in the cave, it is possible to maintain a high concentration of
salt for a very long time. Apart from salt, only natural materials that don't affect
the environment have been used, such as wood, plaster, natural resin and organic
glues. Our company has devoted a lot of attention to the aesthetic value of the
cave. The walls and the ceiling are shaped in a way that emulates the shape of natural
caves in a salt mine. At the centre a stalagmite column supports the ceiling. The
salt walls of the caves are additionally covered with salt nuggets. The floor covering
is made of salt pebbles. The door frames and "spare modules" are made of old wooden
beams. All this creates a unique impression of being in a salt mine. The impression
is further enhanced by a "dam" made of old timber, through which flows carnallite
brine, enriched by other useful salts. Additionally, the flowing brine saturates
the air in the cave with salt and helps maintain the desired humidity. Apart from
its therapeutic function the salt cave is a place in which to relax and depart,
once in a while, from everyday chores. This can be done in an attractive and extraordinary
environment. A visit in a salt mine quiets the mind and increases resistance to
stress.
